Twenty years ago, I was sitting at a friend’s kitchen

table in West Union, Ohio. As we were smoking

cigarettes, drinking sweet tea and talking about our

ideas and passions, her four year old son walked up

to me and said,

“Did you know when I was a baby, I was the moon?”

She promptly explained that she had painted a series of

moon cards and used his face as her inspiration for the face of

the moon. That quote stuck like glue in my mind and when I got back to my apartment that evening, the “Moon Book” was born. I love this book. I love the feeling I get reading it. I love the message that you don’t have to settle for what you were born into, you can choose a new life at any point. I smile when I remember that day, the kitchen table full of homemade pot stickers, the sun rays streaming through the stained glass window above her kitchen sink, and the little boy that started it all.
This book as been a blessing to children of my family and friends                        for over twenty years and now I am proud to be able to offer it                     to the public. I hope that it becomes one of your children’s                                  favorite bedtime stories. And may they always remember,

when they look up at the moon, that possibilities are endless and                       happiness is just one choice away.
